If The Weight of Numbers is about how much horror a thinking system can hold, The Head Reconstruction Incident is about how much precision a thinking system can achieve when it’s pointed at human anatomy. It’s about the moment we figured out that we could take invisible cross-sections of a human body and rebuild them into something coherent. Godfrey Hounsfield and his CT scanner gave us the ability to see inside. Then someone in 1983 said, “What if we reconstruct that?
