An Extreme Heat Warning remains in effect for Pasadena, the San Gabriel Valley, and surrounding areas through Thursday evening. Daytime highs are expected to reach 110–115°F, with overnight lows barely dipping below 85°F. This is the kind of heat that doesn’t quit, doesn’t apologize, and absolutely will kill you if you’re not careful.

If you’re in the warning zone — Pasadena, South Pasadena, Arcadia, Monrovia, Glendora, San Dimas, La Cañada Flintridge, or anywhere in that corridor — here’s what you actually need to do: Stay indoors during peak heat (10 a.m. to 6 p.m.). Drink water constantly, even if you don’t feel thirsty. Check on elderly neighbors, people living alone, and anyone without reliable AC. Call 911 immediately if someone shows signs of heat exhaustion (confusion, nausea, rapid pulse) or heat stroke (no sweating, body temp above 103°F, loss of consciousness). That’s not optional. Heat kills faster than you’d think.

Keep your AC running. If you don’t have it, head to a cooling center — Pasadena Public Library, community centers, and malls are open extended hours. Don’t leave kids or pets in cars. Don’t run errands at midday. Don’t exercise outdoors. Don’t be a hero. The heat wins that argument every single time.

Utilities are warning of potential power strain as everyone cranks their air conditioning simultaneously. If your power goes out, you’re in genuine danger in this heat. Report outages to your provider immediately. If you’re on a medical device that needs electricity, have a backup plan now — not when the grid hiccups.

The Valley floor is going to be a furnace. The foothills slightly better, but not by much. This warning runs through Thursday evening, and I’d bet money we see another one Friday. Stay hydrated, stay inside, stay alive.
