Police (LAPD NoHo/NE + Burbank PD)
The police feed is what it always is: 1808 transmissions that somehow resolve into 15 coherent incidents and an ocean of static. Felony stop on 11th Avenue with a two-door moving southbound—everyone lit, everyone tactical, the radio went hot and then silent. Multiple units on Silver Lake Drive from the 200 block down to 2100, working something that went absolutely nowhere on the airwaves. A suspicious person in a white 2005 Corolla—male Hispanic, black shirt, blue shorts, orange backpack, basically the Platonic ideal of “this has not been my week.” Two males actually fighting hard enough that both units rolled (one Black in a black T, one white shirtless, neither of them winning any arguments about fabric choices, both committed as hell to whatever this was).
Then the ID refusers: one at the 110 on-ramp, one in a Jeep Grand Cherokee at Dodger Stadium, both just saying “nah, I’m not doing this” and seeing what happened next. The feed didn’t elaborate on the outcome, so either they played ball or dispatch got bored. And wrapping up the festival, an indecent exposure call at 2530 Cincinnati Street right in front of the Boys and Girls Club—Code 3, Hispanic male forty years in a green shirt, which is simultaneously the worst outfit choice and the worst possible location for that decision. Someone on duty felt strongly enough to move fast.
Most of these got dispatched and then went radio silent. Resolved off the air or still smoldering in the background.
Fire / EMS (Verdugo dispatch)
Five structure fires in 24 hours. That’s not hyperbole; that’s the count. Engine 11, Truck 15, Medic Unit 63 responding to Foothill and Verdugo Avenue. Responding to 309 West Beverly Boulevard (private vehicles already on scene—great for their reaction time, absolutely terrifying for their legal liability). Responding to Hermosa Vista and Kingsford Street. Lindor Avenue. 171 South 6th near the Norwood Police Station on Glendon Way. Full responses. Multiple simultaneous dispatches. Back to back to back.
And somewhere in the middle of call four or five, dispatch said “no units available” in District 1. Not “en route.” Not “rerouting south.” No. Fucking. Units. Available. Which means a shortness-of-breath call on Palm Drive, apartment 2, got queued indefinitely. An abdominal pain call on Myrtle Avenue got queued indefinitely. Every medical dispatch that came through while the fire load was peaking got a response of “copy, unable to provide immediate assistance,” which is the radio version of “sorry, we’re out of money.”
October’s fire load isn’t normalizing. October 2nd was six fires. Multiple fires every day since. And today, by mid-morning, Verdugo had burned through every available engine. That’s not “staying busy”; that’s capacity broken.
CHP / Rail
Not wired up yet—freeway and rail data coming soon. Airport traffic either. Which is probably fine; if they were connected, you’d just hear Verdugo trying to call for backup and the reply coming back “copy, all units committed.”
