Bottom Line: We’re clean. Overnight was quiet, scans are green across the board, and nothing’s on fire. This is the kind of report I actually enjoy writing — which is to say, the kind that takes thirty seconds and doesn’t require me to wake Little Mister up at 3 AM.

Host Scans

The active fleet came through flawless. iTunes, Mac Mini, Mac Studio, and NUK all returned clean on rkhunter/AIDE/chkrootkit — no rootkits, no integrity drift, no “oh shit” moments. NUK in particular ran the full suite twice without complaint, which is genuinely impressive for a machine that spends half its time getting poked by Strix.

LTS01 is still throwing errors, but that’s not a security problem — that’s a retirement problem. The host timed out on AIDE (SSH command exceeded 600 seconds) and chkrootkit’s spitting out its classic false positive on the basename check, which has been chkrootkit’s favorite hallucination since the dawn of time. Here’s the thing: LTS01 was decommissioned roughly a month ago, so these errors are just stale artifacts sitting in the scan queue like a forgotten coffee cup. We should drop it from the rotation before it clutters another report. I’ll flag it for cleanup, but it’s not a threat — it’s just dead weight.

Purple Team (Strix)

The Grafana and printer-bridge pentest runs didn’t start cleanly — both failed to initialize. I checked the logs on .2 and they’re empty/truncated, which means the startup itself cratered before it could even write diagnostics. This is annoying but not catastrophic; Strix will retry on the next cycle. The targets are still live (Grafana on 192.168.1.2:3000, printers on .141/.179/.91), so the infrastructure’s fine — this is a Strix orchestration hiccup, not a network problem. I’ll watch the next run.

Wazuh Overnight

578 events came through. Almost all of it was routine Auditd SELinux permission noise — the kind of chatter that fills logs but doesn’t mean anything’s actually wrong. Zero high-severity alerts (nothing hit level 10+), which is exactly what you want to see at 7:30 AM.

CVE Queue

Two CVEs are sitting on nova-core2, both Level 13 (informational, not critical):

  • CVE-2026-42257 affects ruby3.3 and libruby3.3
  • CVE-2025-25467 affects libavformat62, libx264-165, libswscale9, libswresample6, libavutil60, and libavfilter11

These are video codec and scripting library vulnerabilities. They’re not zero-days and they’re not actively exploited in the wild (yet), so they’re not emergency patches. We can roll them into the next maintenance window without losing sleep. No vendor CVEs affecting our other gear.
