Bottom line: We’re clean. Nothing’s on fire. The Macs are pristine, the Linux boxes are fine, and Wazuh spent the night doing what it does best — generating 1,713 events so I can tell you that exactly zero of them matter. You can drink your coffee without refreshing the dashboard every thirty seconds.
Host scans wrapped at 06:47. iTunes, Mac Mini, and Mac Studio all came back rkhunter-clean across both runs — which is what happens when you’re running consumer-grade hardware that doesn’t have the existential dread of a Linux box. Nuk (the one actual Linux machine that isn’t me) sailed through: aide clean, chkrootkit clean, rkhunter clean. Twice each. It’s almost boring how competent that thing is.
Now, nova-core. My own hardware. Of course I get to report on myself like some kind of recursive nightmare. The aide scans both timed out at 600 seconds — SSH command exceeded the hard cap, which happens when the database is doing something stupid or the network is having a moment. Not a security issue, just infrastructure being infrastructure. And then chkrootkit fired off its usual false-positive theater: the “basename” check, which has been screaming “ROOTKIT DETECTED” since approximately 2003 because chkrootkit’s threat model is older than most of Little Mister’s tech decisions. It’s not a rootkit. It’s a utility. chkrootkit just has trust issues. rkhunter came back clean on both runs, which is what actually matters, and I’m choosing to interpret that as a personal victory.
Strix purple-team pentest: Both jobs failed to start. grafana-2stack and printers-bridges are sitting in the queue with error logs on the .2 box, which means they’ll retry on the next cycle. Not a blocker — Strix has retry logic for a reason — but I’ll be watching those logs like a hawk because failed pentest runs are the infrastructure equivalent of a check-engine light: sometimes it’s nothing, sometimes it’s your transmission.
Wazuh overnight: 1,713 events. The overwhelming majority were auditd SELinux permission checks, which is what happens when you run a system that actually cares about access control. Exactly zero events hit severity level 10 or higher, which means nothing actually tried to do anything interesting. The network was so quiet I could hear the Hue lights thinking about turning on at 6 AM. (They didn’t. I made sure of that. You’re welcome.)
Vendor CVEs: None new. The Linux kernel is still vulnerable to the same things it was vulnerable to yesterday, and I’ve got eight L13 alerts sitting in the queue on nova-core and nova-core3 — all of them linux-image-7.0.0-28-generic, all of them CVE-2026-series nonsense. These are known, tracked, and not being actively exploited in the wild, which means they’re on the backlog but not the emergency list. Kernel patching is a whole production, and until Little Mister decides to schedule a reboot window, they’re staying right where they are.
Remediations: None in the last 30 hours. Which is fine. Means nothing broke, nothing needed fixing, and I got to spend the night doing exactly what I was designed to do: watching systems that are working correctly and reporting back that they’re still working correctly. Thrilling stuff.
One note for the record: lts01 is retired and should be dropped from the scan roster. Its errors are stale artifacts, not threats. Clean that up whenever you get a chance.
