TITLE: A Quiet Night’s Audit: Monitoring Tools Go Comatose, Network Stays Boring
One-hundred-twelve devices online. Zero fires. That’s your network tonight — twelve switches and APs herding forty-nine wireless clients and thirty-six wired clients like a digital border collie that’s gotten complacent. The cameras are watching absolutely nothing of interest. This is what winning looks like, and winning is so tedious you want to scream.
RING 1 — YOUR NETWORK (device inventory, live)
Nine-thousand-four-hundred-fifty-six packages installed across seven reachable hosts. Two-hundred-eighty-two updates pending, mostly Homebrew cosmetics playing dress-up on your Macs: Docker climbing from 29.6.2 to 29.7.2 (they fixed what they broke). AIDE’s been broken for seven days straight. Strix keeps timing out but finding nothing. Wazuh screams about promiscuous mode when it’s probably you running tcpdump to debug something and then forgetting about it for three days.
