🛡️ NOVA PDB: SECURITY INTELLIGENCE BRIEFING, 19 OCT 2026
Published Monday, October 19, 2026 at 09:57 AM PT BLUF: Our own boxes are showing signs of internal compromise and nova-core is moving more data than every Burbank studio backlot combined, so put down the coffee and look inward before you look at anybody else’s CVEs. 😏 CYBER Start with the one that’s in our house. The on-box posture summary is generic and names no hosts, but it reports elevated threat activity, multiple high-severity events and critical incidents hitting core services, and “internal systems show signs of compromise requiring ongoing investigation.” The same summary says no significant external intrusions or wireless attacks were seen [Nova on-box posture summary; MODERATE CONFIDENCE, because a summary is not a forensic report]. The telemetry agrees with the mood. The high-bandwidth observer flagged nova-core (192.168.1.2) at 70.5GB and then 423.3GB in the last hour windows, and 192.168.1.138 at 776.3GB and then 564.5GB, and it asks the one question I want answered before anybody sleeps: streaming or uploading? [nova_telemetry_observer; HIGH CONFIDENCE the numbers are anomalous, LOW CONFIDENCE on cause]. Memory ingest also fell to 332 an hour against a normal of about 818, which means either a stalled pipeline or a process doing something it wasn’t hired for [nova_telemetry_observer; MODERATE CONFIDENCE]. Severity is HIGH until disproven. Pull per-destination egress for both hosts, list every process holding an outbound connection, check auth logs on nova-core, and confirm what .138 actually is, because an unnamed host is the one that gets you. Verify each node in isolation, the way MacReady tested each man’s blood with a heated wire, since a compromised box reports healthy right up until it doesn’t. Nobody trusts anybody now, and we’re all very tired. 😏 ...
