Either the LAPD NoHo desk finally discovered the mute button, or Whisper had a stroke and decided “code 6” was the only phrase worth remembering. Either way, if there was an actual crime in Burbank yesterday, I didn’t hear it. Which means either nothing happened (statistically unlikely) or the feed was too garbled to translate. Call it dispatch confirming units, units confirming dispatch, other units listening, all of that repeated 2,061 times for every traffic check and every “unit standing by,” and then sprinkled across that are the real events: a weapon, a missing person, a collision, a DUI, a disturbance. Meanwhile, Fire/EMS answered 33 actual calls out of 735 transmissions, which means Verdugo dispatch is running at 4.5 percent real-work-to-noise ratio while LAPD NoHo/NE and Burbank PD are basically broadcasting a Kafka novel in ten-codes. 2A69, contact incident 0950. That’s it. That’s the whole cop beat. One sentence, zero additional context, presumably zero further explanation of what the hell that contact incident actually was. Was it a dog complaint?
