The ratio is so bad it feels deliberate — like LAPD has hired a noise machine to run between the dispatcher and the street, and our job is to listen to pure static and occasionally hallucinate a sentence. But today that rare coherence landed somewhere real: 6th and Alvarado, which apparently decided to become a neighborhood deathmatch between roughly 6 AM and 6:15 AM. The worst of it was Third and Central, where six units rolled on a suspect walking north on foot with a large knife or sword and a woman in a pink dress nearby. Nothing says Monday in the city like a guy with a sword and a bystander who should have been home eating dinner.
