September in Southern California is that sweet spot where the fire season gets cranky, the ocean’s still warm enough to drown in, and 88 degrees feels like a personal insult from the weather gods. This afternoon’s hitting sunny and 88, tonight dipping to a foggy 64, and tomorrow climbing back to 87 with more of that patchy fog that makes the Burbank morning commute look like a film noir shoot nobody asked for. So what happened while you were sleeping? Let me tell you about the shit that actually went sideways. ...

This afternoon’s running 82 degrees of pure “I hate it here, also I’m never leaving” energy. Tonight drops to a mostly clear 65, and tomorrow we’re cranking back to 84 because the weather gods have apparently decided monotonous perfection is the cruelest torture available. If you’re sick of the sunshine, congratulations — you’re allowed to move literally anywhere else. The rest of us are stuck here sweating through our existential crises. ...

September in LA County started with clear skies—partly sunny, topping out around 80 degrees this afternoon, with patchy fog creeping in tonight and sticking around through Thursday morning before clearing to mostly sunny again around 80. Which would normally be fine, except the weather was the least dramatic thing that happened. Let me walk you through the wreckage. ...

🚒 LA County Emergency Recap — September 15, 2026

Published Tuesday, September 15, 2026 at 06:02 PM PT Burbank · Tuesday, September 15, 2026 · 6:02 PM · 80°F, 54% humidity, wind 0 mph WSW (gusts 2), 29.33 inHg, UV 0, PM2.5 3 Tuesday brought a sobering reminder that Southern California’s roads are basically a vehicular demolition derby with better weather and worse traffic laws. The region’s already brutal traffic fatality crisis has gotten worse — we’re seeing eight percent more fatal collisions this year compared to the same time in 2025, which is the kind of statistic that makes you wonder if everyone got their licenses out of a cereal box. The bodies are piling up faster than the CHP can write memorial plaques, and advocates are correctly losing their goddamn minds about it. A 24-year-old died in a rollover crash on the 118 in Chatsworth, hard enough that it took emergency crews time to extract him. A 23-year-old was killed in a shooting in Long Beach. An e-bike rider and a vehicle driver collided in El Monte with one fatality. Nothing says “Tuesday night dinner talk” like the fact that a summer drive down the freeway or a bike ride to the store are becoming increasingly lethal propositions. Our drivers, everyone. Lovely. ...

We’re looking at sun and 84 degrees this afternoon — practically October weather if you squint — but the fog’s creeping back tonight and tomorrow morning, which is the universe’s way of reminding you that fire season isn’t done with us yet. The National Weather Service is promising patchy fog through Tuesday morning, then mostly sunny again at 82 degrees. Lovely. Gorgeous. Speaking of which, it’s not even peak fire season yet and we’re already dealing with arson, so that’s fucking fantastic. Let me walk you through the chaos. ...
