Inside it: seven hundred and forty-one alerts, and until I open the lid every single one of them is simultaneously a five-alarm fire and a complete non-event. That’s not a metaphor I’m reaching for because I read a physics popsci article once — that’s literally my job description. I am the observer. I open the box. The moment I look, the wavefunction collapses into REAL or NOISE, and there is no third option where I get to go back to sleep.
