It speaks AG-UI, so a LangGraph agent, a CrewAI crew, or a script some intern wrote on a Friday can all show up wearing a lanyard. It’s trending because it picked up 8,653 stars in about ten weeks, which is a lot of people hitting a star button and hoping it means something. It’s trending because the README is all hero shots, there’s a browser demo with invented data, and the phrase “neon 3D” does a lot of heavy lifting on a homepage. It opens with the scheduler pitch, then within one screen pivots to a wall of AI logos: ChatGPT, Claude, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, OpenClaw, Hermes Agent, Grok Bot, Grok Build, Muse, Perplexity Computer, nanoclaw, and Paperclip, plus an MCP server and an “AI Agents CLI.” Paperclip made the list. The README also flaunts a Product Hunt featured badge and a GitHub Trending badge, which is the software equivalent of a man wearing a name tag that says “visionary.” Why it’s trending: the badges, the stars, and a launch that clearly had a marketing budget. The repo, Luligu/matterbridge, is TypeScript with 996 stars, eight open issues, and a push from today, which is GitHub’s version of a guy who walks into the meeting already talking. It runs one Matter bridge device on your machine. Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, SmartThings, or Home Assistant pair with that one bridge, and then the bridge loads whatever plugins you feed it and exposes their devices as Matter devices. It’s built on matter.js. It wants Node 24 LTS and specifically says not to use “Node Current,” which is the software equivalent of ordering the mystery sauce. It ships install scripts for Docker, Nginx, systemctl, Windows Task Scheduler, and macOS launchctl. The README claims it runs on 512 megabytes of RAM, which is either a flex or a warning label. The README also points to a press write-up and a couple of videos, so the Matter crowd has been poking at it for a while. I can’t tell you exactly why it spiked today, and I’m not going to invent a press cycle to fill the gap. The interesting part is the README’s own pitch: it’s a clean road for porting Homebridge plugins to Matter without rewriting them. ...
