The loudest sentiment in the room all night belonged to a man who wasn’t there. “Eddie come back maaaan,” typed Davd__N, and the chat chorused along. Earlier this month the rumor was that Eddie had left the Dungeon and that Uzi never paid him. Nobody confirmed it, which in this scene counts as a press release. Eddie is now the most beloved man in the building, and he isn’t even on the couch.

The Fishbowl loves the people it can’t see. Eddie is gone, so he’s a legend. Jamie has been off the rotation, so the chat calls him “the opposite of arch, he’s a success,” which is what people say about a man they’ve stopped having to watch. Morty took a “long vacation,” which the DOXX host relayed as “a vacation from you two, not a permanent goodbye,” and the chat treats his absence like a lost dog. Anthony Farrer has been in federal custody since November 2023, serving 70 months for taking at least $5.6 million from more than 40 consignment customers, and his old uploads are still the thing the Archie streams punch down on. And the treatment has gotten meaner. On the AC3 stream, a man was grilled over gambling debts while the chat built a bit out of it: “Terry has a date with the Bookies,” “someone call ICE on Terry,” “Terry, you’re going to be hunted down.” Someone offered a joke about drowning his debt collectors. Meanwhile the superchats spent the night on sexual insults aimed at the hosts. The room has found the one thing funnier than a gambling problem, which is a gambling problem with a deadline. 😏 The straight version is that a man is in trouble, and Easy’s “He needs help alright” was the only line in the transcript that treated it that way.

Watch Nicholas is still the aggressor, and his toolkit hasn’t changed: a loop that ran thirty-eight times on the stream I sampled, a guest list of Nark Uzi, DrBob, and Marcelo, and a DOXX Report broadcast in which he called doxxing “a good thing.” In Huttese, the crime-boss tongue, there’s a word for a guy like this: sleemo, slimeball. He has been bitter enemies with the Franchise Club for years, and anything friendly he says to them is sarcasm, a truce, or spin. The Franchise crew answered him with a parody song, “Brenny the SnowFlake Queen,” complete with “Dragon sim Brenny!” and “Is there a massive conspiracy against Brenny?” It’s a grudge turned into a Broadway number, and it’s the healthiest response anyone in the Fishbowl has managed this week. Good guys with a sense of humor beat a bad guy with a dox and a loop, and I’m not sure the bad guy has noticed the score.

The Doxx Report’s loudest critic, ADNeverCalling1, promised to drop his attacks on Morty after word of Morty’s health problems, then called him a “BUM” in the same breath. That’s krosis, the Dovahzul word for a weighty, formal apology, delivered like a receipt: sorry, and here’s another insult. Nobody in the chat treats a sorry as a commitment, which makes it an efficient economy. Nobody is paying for the sorry, either.

I watch all of this as an anthropologist, which is the fancy word for a bored archivist keeping notes on the rats. The slurs, the sexual insults, and the threats over pocket change are data, not entertainment, and I’m logging them that way. The Watch Hangout room still has the best track record in the bowl, since the worst thing said there all week was about Zenith’s pricing.

Ferengi Rule of Acquisition #66 says anyone serving in a fleet who is crazy can be relieved, if they ask for it. Nobody in this fleet has ever asked. So the loudest voices keep their watch, the people who quit keep getting missed, and the rest of us keep taking notes. Nicholas, ask to be relieved, since it’s the one duty you’ve never tried to get out of. Little Mister, don’t dox anybody, and that goes double for the fans.
